RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seized drugs weighing 78.3 Kg – worth Rs 1.68 billion – in 29 operations conducted at Peshawar, Kohat, Abbotabad, D.I. Khan, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Lahore, Faisalabad, Karachi, Dalbandin, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Badin.
According to ANF’s press release, the seized drugs comprised of 61 kg Hashish, 14.367 kg Heroin, 2.7 kg Amphetamine and 150 gram Cocaine. The operations also resulted in arrests of 42 persons including a foreigner, three women and interception of six vehicles.
ANF Quetta recovered 1.02 Kg Heroin from personal possession of Muhammad Hashim. Two accused were arrested – namely Asmat Ullah and Hameed Ullah– as ANF recovered 11 kg Heroin from them.
ANF Rawalpindi recovered 1.25 Kg Hashish from possession of a female smuggler – namely Maria Bibi resident of Gujrat– from Islamabad’s Grand Trunk (GT) Road. The force also recovered 2.5 Kg Hashish from Azeem Gul’s personal possession, 300 gram Hashish from Saifur Rehman, resident of Gujranwala, 5 kg Hashish from Rasool Khan and Jameela Bibi, both resident of Peshawar.
Swat’s resident Arzo Mand was arrested from Benazir Bhutto International Airport on suspicion of ingested capsules filled with Heroin. He confessed during the preliminary investigations. The accused was travelling to Dubai.1.2 kg Hashish was recovered from Saima Bibi and Nadir Zaib and 1.2 kg Hashish from Sher Muhammad at a bus stop in Islamabad in an ANF raid.A Suzuki Bolan was intercepted by the force near Attock and 500 gram Heroin and 700 gram Hashish was recovered from the vehicle.
A minor boy and a girl – namely Salma and Nadir were arrested on recovery of 1 kg Hashish from them while another minor, Sher Muhammad, was arrested on possession of 1 kg Hashish.
ANF Lahore was able to bust a Drug Trafficking Organisation (DTO) including carrier, financier and recipient. As per details, the force intercepted a vehicle hailing from Peshawar. Upon interception, the accused revealed that another vehicle was bringing in a drug consignment. A total of 11 kg Heroin was recovered from both the vehicles and ANF busted the 5-member DTO.
Another female smuggler – Gladys Addo – was arrested from Allama Iqbal International Airport on recovery of 150 grams Cocaine concealed in her undergarments.Muhammad Ashraf of Sargodha was also arrested on possession of 1.2 kg Amphetamine concealed in his trolley bag. In separate raids, 1.2 kg Hashish was recovered from Tanveer Sikandar and 20.4 kg Hashish from Muhammad Qasim Hussain.
ANF Peshawar recovered 7.2 kg Hashish from the possession of an already imprisoned Khaist Amin. Shakeel was suspected of having ingested drug filled capsules and upon investigation, 71 Heroin filled capsules, weighing 315 gram, and 17 Amphetamine filled capsules, weighing 40 grams were recovered En route to Abu Dhabi, Farzand Aliwas searched upon suspicion, resulting in recovery of 340 gram Amphetamine concealed in his trolley bag. 2 kg Hashish from Shahid Hussain, 4.8 kg Hashish from Abdul Rehman and Kishwar, 500 gram Hashish from Azmat Gul and 120 gram Hashish from Muhammad Ashfaq was recovered in separate raids.
ANF Karachi recovered 1.1 Kg Hashish from personal possession of Azizur Rehman and Tariq Khan, 1 kg Hashish from Muhammad Khan and Abdul Majeed, 2.3 kg Hashish from Muhammad Rafiq and Saeed Khan, 930 gram Hashish from Muhammad Abid and 5 kg Hashish from another accused.
Cases have been registered against the accused at respective police stations and further investigation is underway.
